Was der Satz wirklich sagt

Erstens: Alles wird "wichtig", also nichts.

"As soon as possible" sounds urgent and sits in almost every second request. In reality it is the most expensive four-word deadline in the company: it pushes the decision to the other side — and then nothing happens.

What the sentence actually says

The receiver does not know whether this is about noon today or next month. So they prioritise by their own scale. What you considered urgent sits behind what they consider urgent. No mistake, no intention — just a deadline without a date.

The three consequences

First: everything becomes "important", so nothing is. Second: follow-ups cost relationship — whoever asks three times is seen as pushy. Third: if it is late after all, the blame was unclear — and unclear blame lands on whoever wrote last.

The one minute that replaces it

Two replacements: a date ("by Friday, we will get back to you after") and a hand-off ("after that it goes to X"). Together they turn a request into an agreement — in the same length as the vague sentence.

The team rule

One rule is enough: no request leaves the team without a date. And one counter-rule: requests without a date go back with a date, not with a refusal. After four weeks the team has a language — and the number of "as soon as possible" requests drops to zero without discussion.
